BIO

Jafar Sadik is a writer, director, artist, and educator from Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad, Kerala. He studied at Cheeral AUP School, Government Model Higher Secondary School in Muttil, and WMO Arts and Science College. He holds several degrees, including:

  • B.A. in English
  • M.A. in English
  • M.Sc. in Psychology
  • B.Ed.
  • PG Diploma in Journalism

He also trained in film direction at the Cochin Film Institute under K.P.S. Dev and received training from the British Council. His achievements in education and literature have earned him wide recognition.


As a Writer

Jafar started writing in school, publishing his first Malayalam short story at age 13 in Mathrubhumi Weekly. He was encouraged by his teacher, Kasthoori Bhai, to try poetry. Inspired by writers like Khalil Gibran and Balachandran Chullikkad, he has written over 500 love poems.

His first book, Aareyum Athirattu Snehikkaruthu, a Malayalam poetry collection, was released while he was a second-year BA student. The event was moved to a public venue after his college opposed it due to some poems being considered controversial.

He has published nine poetry collections in Malayalam and English.

He is also the author of Ammu to Amma: The Life and Times of Jayalalithaa, a well-known biography considered an official account of her life. It gained much attention in Tamil Nadu.


As a Director

Jafar was fascinated by films from a young age. At just 16, he made his first short film Seshippukal using basic equipment. This was the first time such a film was made in his village, Cheeral. It got national and international media attention and set records for being made by one of the youngest directors.

This inspired many college students across Kerala to start making campus films. Since then, Jafar has directed several short films, documentaries, and ad films.

As an Artist

Jafar is also an artist and paints under the name Nayan. He held his first painting exhibition in 9th grade, protesting the U.S. attack on Iraq, creating around 100 emotional paintings in just a week. He also painted banners and signboards during school to support his education.

He won several art competitions and took part in many art camps, including the ACK Raja All Kerala Artist Camp.


As an Educator

Jafar has over 15 years of teaching experience. He runs a popular YouTube channel, Jafar's English, with more than 400 subscribers, and is the founder of the Bristu Learning App, which helps students learn English.

He has written many educational books, especially the bestselling Word Mastery in 30 Weeks and Jafar Sadik’s English Grammar and Vocabulary, both widely used by learners and teachers.
